Selecting a tattoo design is not an easy task. You will be sporting it for the rest of your life unless you would endure the painful process of erasing it from your skin. As such you should be tedious in selecting the design that you want, making sure that you really want it. This is often hard especially if you don’t know the tattoo artist personally. Fortunately, you could easily make your own design by using a tattoo design software.
These programs allow you to design your own tattoo to your exact specifications. All you have to do is print the final design and present it your tattoo artist. There are a lot of these programs in the Internet today with each having its own strengths and weaknesses. There are also free and commercial programs available.

The decision on which tattoo design software you should get would depend on the functionalities that you need as well as your pocket. However, the primary consideration for this is the ease of using the software. This feature greatly varies from one software to the other.

Getting the commercial one doesn’t necessarily mean that it is a good one or that it is user friendly. The only way to know about these things is through the reviews made by others who have used it before. There are many of these reviews available in the web. Usually, you could find it in tattoo-related websites which are the best place to start in looking for a software.

Sporting that hippy great looking tattoo usually starts in selecting the design itself. As such, one should invest time to make sure that you won’t have regrets in having it inked in your body after a month or two. A tattoo is not a piece of clothing that you could easily stash in your dresser. It is a mirror of own personality.

A dragon can often symbolize power, strength and courage. In many cultures, dragons are thought to have qualities like dignity, wisdom, power and fertility and are seen as bringers of luck. In certain parts of Asia they often represent the magical power associated with the water element.

Typical colors for

When searching the net for dragon tattoo flash, pictures/art, people usually go for free designs, but free designs are often of very poor quality. And considering that a tattoo is permanent, you should not risk being stuck with a poor design that you will end up regretting. There are many ways of finding tattoo designs today, among the most popular sources are magazines and books. Most big bookstores carry a variety of different books and magazines with many photos. You can also go to tattoo parlors or even tattoo conventions where you can get the opportunity to speak with the artists in person to give you ideas or help you design your dragon tattoo. However, the most convenient way is no doubt via the internet. This allows you to browse through designs at any hour of the day or night from the comfort of you own home.

When looking for a dragon tattoo design it is important to remember that you get what you pay for. If a design is free it is most likely done by an inexperienced artist and the design will be far below the quality of a tattoo designed by a professional artist. Removing a tattoo is painful and expensive so the golden rule is to always take your time when trying to find the perfect tattoo.
Bali’s punk rock pioneers Superman is Dead (SID) are about to
embark on a major U.S.A. tour, spreading their unique style of Kuta
Rock on tour dates between June 2 – July 9, 2009. During those 35 days SID will perform some 18 concert gigs in 17 cities, including a multi-city segment with the legendary Vans Warped Tour, only the second Asian band to be invited to do so.
Playing together in one form or another since 1995, Bobby Kool (lead
vocals and guitar), Eka Rock (bass player and backing vocalist) and
Jerink (drummer) – the three men who comprise Superman is Dead
have more than paid their dues with minor indie labels and gigs at less
than salubrious dives before finally singing a record deal with Sony-BMG in 2003.

That hard fought negotiation with Sony-BMG
included the understanding that the band would be allowed to record
most of their numbers in English and also have complete control over
their own image. All this from a band who narrowly escaped the Bali
bombing of 2002 that took place only 75 meters from their Kuta base.

The
U.S.A. tour will allow audiences there to see first hand the musicians
who pack Bali’s music venues whenever they play and understand why the
band has won numerous music awards.

When asked to self-describe their musical style, the band says they are Punk-Rock-a-Bali a mixture of sounds inspired by U.S.A. punk legends NOFX (pronounced No Ef-Ex) and Social Distortion,
supersonically fueled with beer-soaked Balinese Rockabilly attitude.
Got it? That description alone should drive droves of punk rock devotee
to SIDs concerts or conversely serve as fair warning to others get out of town before these guys take the stage.

Proudly Balinese despite their firm embrace of cutting edge punk rock, SID
put on a powerful hyper-ventilated stage performance. Girls, and
perhaps not a few guys, are drawn to this trio of over-heated musicians
with tattooed chiseled physiques, on ready display once their shirts
get ditched as the concert cranks up. Accordingly, those expecting to
see three demure Balinese guys, all smiles and socially reticent are in
for a surprise: This band says what it wants to say, how it wants to
say it, and, to be more precise, what they have to say they do so
straight in your face.

Mothers of America, lock your daughters at home. These guys love their punk rock, cold beer and night-long partying.

Maori tattooing would usually start at adolescence, and was used to celebrate important events throughout life. The first tattoo marks the transition from childhood to adulthood and was done during a series of rites and rituals. Tattoo art was an important part of the Maori culture – in fact, people without tattoos were considered to be without status or worth.

Needless to say, tattooing by making incisions with a chisel was a painful process, but traditional Maori tattoos were meant to be more than decorative – they were a show of strength, courage and status. Both men and women were tattooed, though women substantially less (maybe because there was less of a need for them to show courage) and on other places (usually the lips and chin).

The process of Maori tattooing was a ritual, with music, chant and fasting – in fact, fasting was more or less a necessity, because the face would swell up from the wounds caused by the tattooing process!

The tattoo specialists in the Maori culture were usually men, although there are some women who also were tohunga ta moko (moko specialists).

Tattooing is traditionally an apprenticeship based art. Apprenticeships last approximately three years before they are considered professional artists. You are making permanent, often visible changes to another human being and if proper procedure isn’t followed,

you could be jeopardizing that client’s health and emotional well-being. By taking advantage of the knowledge of experienced, professional artists, you will avoid many costly mistakes. Unfortunately it is very hard to get one because very few proffesional tattoo artists wil give away their “Sectrets” to anybody.
Still, there is a chance of getting into one of those apprenticeships and here are a couple of tips what to do:

# First of all you should put together a kick ass portfolio, anything reflecting your skills with composition, color and line work. Take your time with creating the flash and have at least two sets of flash ready when you walk into a studio. One set, about 5 pages, in black & white and another set, another 5 pages, in color. The sheets should not be smaller than 14×11 inches. As i said take your time with drawing the flash and be as creative as you can be. Tattoo artists always like to check out new flashes and if you did a good job and impressed him you might have a better chance of getting the apprenticeship. A good artist will see right away if you have the potential to become an artist yourself.

After you’re done drawing the flashes start visiting local studios and talk to the shopowners. Here is a little tip for what to say and what to do, too.

# Make sure you check out the studio a couple of days before you walk in there asking for an apprenticeship. Check out if the artists are friendly, if the shop is a professional one, if they have any pics hanging on the walls of recently done work so you can get an idea of how the quality of the studio all together is. If somebody asks you if you need some help just say you are looking around. When walking into the shop asking for the apprenticeship make sure the shop is not to crowded. If it is just wait and go there another day cause they might say “We don’t need anybody” to you, just because they are to busy at the moment and don’t have time to talk to you.

# Make a bunch of copies of your flashes and walk into the studio of your choice. Ask for the person in charge and let them know you have some tattoo flash for sale. As I said above, atrists always like to check out new flash so make sure they accidently see them already when you walk into the studio. Don’t throw the sheets on the counter or right into his face, just carry them around in your hand, not covered by anything like an envelope so everybody in the shop can see it. But remember, you are there to get an apprenticeship not to make money of tattoo flash, so if they are interested in the flash, keep the price low. If you already got into talking about your flash, mention that you are looking for an apprenticeship and if they are looking for somebody to work in the studio. Your attidude is also important when talking to the artist. Don’t be a smart ass and tell him “You Know” when he is talking to you because you don’t know, otherwise you wouldn’t be there asking for an apprenticeship. Just be friendly, confident and show interest. The rest is up to the artist and your work.

Don’t be dissapointed if it doesen’t work in the first studio you walk into. Make sure you leave your name and number at the studio and tell them to give you a call if they ever needed somebody.

As I said above it will not be easy to get an apprenticeship at a tattoo parlor but it’s not impossible. Still, you will get a lot of “no’s” but keep trying and be persistent. The hardest part is to get the artist looking at your artwork and the tips above might help you out. But the most important part is your work, so make sure you do the best you can

The tribal designs widely used and applied nowadays go back to the black, silhouette like and geometric Tatau ornaments of the Polynesians. It was also tribal tattoos the Sailors brought home to europe from their first journeys to Tahiti before the influences of the Sailors with maritime designs, now called traditional tattoos, replaced the native motives.

The release of Tattoo Time, a tattoo magazine founded in 1982 by the american innovator Don Ed Hardy and Leo Zulueta started an amazing tribal tattoo boom. The title of the first issue was “New Tribalism” and it features native tattoos from Samoa and Borneo. From there on the tattoo scene re-discovered tribal designs as a tattoo style.
Not only that, the black and gently swinging style of tribals weakened the negative associations made with tattoos in the years before. Only after half a year the black designs were among the most popular motive choices and tribals are still one of the most popular tattoos styles today.

There are a lot of tattoo artists who refuse to tattoo simple tribals because of the widely spread believe a tribal is not very challenging for the artist. This is not true. Tribal patterns should always be applied correctly, along the musculature and single muscle parts of the body and should come across as a grown part of the body. The colouring should also be very even and this is not the easiest to do.

A real tribal master is the co-founder of Tattoo Time Leo Zulueta.

Believe it or not but most scientist believe the origins of tattoos date back to about 3300 B.C. They believe that certain marks found on the skin of the “ÖTZI”, an mummified body of an iceman found in the italian alps,

were considered tattoos back in his days. If their acceptance is true, these marks on his body represent the earliest known evidence for tattoos in history. All we know for sure up until now is, there are tattoos found on Egyptian and Nubian mummies dating from about 2000 B.C. Classical authors also mention the use of tattoos in ancient societies like the old Greeks, Germans, Britons, Romans and Gauls. The tattoos we know nowadays were discovered by Europeans while exploring north america and the south seas of the pacific ocean. Their first contact with cultures like the American Indians and Polynesians also were the first contact of so called “civilized” people with tattoos. The word tattoo was first mentioned in James Cook’s records from his 1769 journey to the south seas. The natives of Tahiti, this is were Cook’s expedition went to, called the marks on their bodies TATTAU which was translated into TATTOO by Cook. Due to their exotic appearance, tattooed Indians and Polynesians where showcased at circuses and fairs during the 18th and 19th century all over Europe and the US.
